We will now demonstrate how quick and easy it is to perform the learn process for each of your cats.
Take the cat flap out of the box along with the screws and the instruction manual. To perform the learn process you need your cats, some of their favourite dry food and four good quality AA batteries.
We recommend that you perform this process before installing your SureFlap to ensure each cat’s microchip can be read reliably. To remove the battery lid push down on the back of it and slide it forwards. Then insert the batteries – the correct orientation is shown in the bottom of the battery compartment.
Push the memory button once and SureFlap goes into the learn mode. There are two things to check that SureFlap is in the learn mode, the first is that the motorised catch has dropped down at the front of the door, and the second, that the indicator lamp is flashing every couple of seconds.
SureFlap is now waiting for a cat to put its head in the tunnel and activate the reader.
Now take some of the dry food and put it inside the tunnel close to the door, the aim is to get your cat to put its head in the tunnel as they would do when they come home. The indicator lamp stops flashing once the chip has been learnt, but the catch will not close until your cat moves away from the tunnel. Now each time your cat puts its head in the tunnel its chip is read and the catch opens. You should now repeat this process for each of your cats. The learn process only needs to be carried out once as each number is permanently stored to SureFlap’s memory.
